KSS in Warner Bros!

Everest Entertainment’s “Kalyana Samayal Saadham”, a feel good romcom, stars Prasanna and Lekha Washington in the lead. The single from the movie, “Mella Sirithai”, has already gone viral and raised expectations for this movie. Written and directed by debutant R S Prasanna, and produced by Ananth Govindan and Arun Vaidyanathan (the Producer-Director duo behind “Achchamundu Achchamundu”), the movie recently completed its Final Sound Mix at Hollywood’s legendary Warner Brothers studio in Los Angeles.

The Sound Supervisor of the movie, Kunal Rajan is famous for creating the sound experience for Kamal Haasan’s blockbuster “Vishwaroopam” and introducing Auro 3D
technology to India through that film. Ananth Govindan and Arun Vaidyanathan, the producers of KSS, along with its director R S Prasanna were present all through the final mixing stage at Warners, Los Angeles in the month of June.

Senior Hollywood technicians worked on “Kalyana Samayal Saadham”, giving it an international sound aesthetic. Tom Marx, the Sound Mixer, has worked on Man of Steel; Bruce Nyznik, a legendary ADR Supervisor, has worked on Sin City and Space Jam; Gary worked on Captain America. All were uniformly in praise of the movie KSS, which they found to be a ‘delightful’ and ‘fun’ film. They said they enjoyed watching even though they could not understand the language.

Why so much of importance for sound in a romcom, one might be curious to know. Usually sound plays a major role only in Action movies, right? Pose the question to the director R S Prasanna, and pat comes the reply: “Cinema is an Audio Visual experience. Ours is a feel good comedy, alright, but sound plays a huge role in immersing the audience into the world of the story. Especially in new age comedies, and some of the best from world cinema, sound elements like room tone, ambience etc play a huge role in adding to the comic atmosphere. A loud, creaky fan that punctuates an awkward silence between characters can by itself become a comic gag. The texture of sound is as critical as the visual experience of  the movie”

The first copy of the movie is ready now and preparations are on at full speed for the Audio launch and release. The movie follows a modern day couple as they go through the ups and downs of the Big Fat Indian Wedding! The movie promises a lot f identification factors for the young couples of today – as well as couples to be!
