Kaththi: Fingers crossed for release tomorrow!
The vandalism last night in the premises of Sathyam Cinemas and Woodlands theaters in Chennai have put the release of Kaththi in jeopardy again. It was reported that the issues have been solved amicably between the production house and the protestors, but the miscreants pelted stones and hurled petrol bombs last night after news surfaced that SPI Cinemas will open bookings for the film starting midnight, which raised eyebrows. Now, according to sources, chennai police have arrested five persons who were involved in the sabotage last night.
Theater owners and distributors are likely to meet again today to decide the fate of the film. Meanwhile, according to this report in The Hindu published today morning, Vel Murugan, who spearheads the protest, says “We were waiting till late in the night. No one has communicated anything to us. If the movie releases with Lyca in its banner, we will besiege the theatres. There is no question of any compromise.”
Violence, in any form, is highly condemnable and we strongly excoriate this hooliganism. We hope theater owners arrive at a conclusion soon and make way for a smooth release for the film with the help of police protection.
