Review Overview
Karuva Karuva Payale
Usure Usure
Olaga Vaayadi
Azhagazhaga
Murukkumeesa Maama
Passable rural soundtrack.
Karuppan is a borderline listenable soundtrack from Imman which lies on the equator. There are a fair amount of nice melodies, but they don’t stand different from what we’ve heard in Imman’s other offerings.
Cast: Vijay Sethupathi, Tanya
Music: Imman
Lyrics: Yugabharathi
Direction: Panner Selvam
Label: Sony Music
Karuva Karuva Payale: Singers – Shankar Mahadevan, Shashaa Tirupati
The standard Imman rural love number. Shashaa Tirupati and Shankar Mahadevan are both adequate in their rendition, as the track follows a predictable route that’s tried and tested to the zenith by Imman.
Usure Usure: Singers – Ananya Bhat, D. Imman
Ananya Bhat’s fresh and unique bring this one to the forefront, with the addition of neat, uncomplicated lyrics. The song has a lovely feel that’s immediately acceptable, becoming our PICK.
Olaga Vaayadi: Singer – Benny Dayal
Benny Dayal with his lively vocals really tries to upstand this track, but it falters thanks to an old-fashioned tune. Passable, at best.
Azhagazhaga: Singer – Pradeep Kumar
The man with the Midas touch – Pradeep Kumar comes onto the mic for this one, to endearing results. The song is a harmless, soothing romantic song that never goes into the noisy regions. Simple, effective composition. Our PICK.
Murukkumeesa Maama: Singers – Diwakar, Anita Venkat, D.Imman
Imman swoops low to scrape the bottom of the barrel in this street dance song which just struggles to get a saving point. Banking on Vijay Sethupathy’s musings to save this.
