Karthi calls for regulatory bodies to oversee rehab centers treating children

After Karthi alarmed parents of specially challenged children few days back about the alleged mistreatment in rehabiliation centres, a lot of professionals reportedly came down heavily on him. Karthi took to his Facebook page today and penned a note to clarify his stand and requested more transparency in rehabiliation centres that treat children.

“My message was mainly about the need for supervision by parents and it’s not against any profession. Though some of us know how occupational therapy has helped special children come back to normal life and also deal with learning disabilities, I understand there are still parents who are unaware of this special education. So for better clarity and to avoid any misunderstanding, I need to say that there are a few rehab centers and practitioners who are not adequately trained to handle children. Further, experts have asked me to mention that there needs to be more transparency in treating children and more importantly closed door sessions need to be avoided. Also government regulatory bodies should be created and be strict in forming rules to maintain a standard in such centers. I hope in future children are not forced into anything uncomfortable to hurt them mentally and physically. But am amazed by the use of language here by few professionals who are supposed to be the most patient people”

On the professional front, Karthi is currently busy with the shooting of Kashmora, where he shares screen space with Nayanthara and Sri Divya. The shooting is going in a huge palace set mounted in the Poonamallee High Road, Chennai.
