Kannada groups protest against Rajinikanth’s Lingaa

The final leg of shooting for Lingaa has been going round the clock in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. It is supposedly the climax schedule and the team was shooting near Linganamakki Dam yesterday after obtaining permission from the concerned authorities. But, social activists from various Kannada groups joined together and staged a road protest yesterday to stop shooting near Linganamakki dam since it would disturb the ecosystem in the vicinity.

The shooting was stopped for a while before authorities intervened and had a heated debate with the protesters. After the makers promised they would not shoot the film in a way it commoves the environment, the activists finally dropped the protest and the team resumed shooting soon. Directed by KS Ravikumar, it has Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles opposite Rajinikanth.
