Kamal Haasan to miss Balachander’s funeral. Why?
It should be really heartbreaking for Kamal Haasan who would miss his mentor K Balachander’s funeral rites which will be held in another one hour at the Besant Nagar crematorium, Chennai. Kamal Haasan has already boarded the flight from California and is expected to arrive later tonight and meet KB’s family to provide solidarity.
Earlier, K Balachander’s cremation was planned on Thursday morning, but now it’s been advanced to today between 2 PM to 2.50 PM. “We were basically planning to cremate him tomorrow, but we had to observe the Kuligai time. And according to it, the time between 2 and 2:50 is ideal,” says a relative of K Balachander.
It was K Balachander who provided Kamal Haasan’s first major onscreen role in his revolutionary film Arangetram, which shattered the Tamil film industry for its bold premise. Kamal Haasan later went on to act in over 35 plus films with K Balachander with the memorable ones being Unnal Mudiyum Thambi, Punnagai Mannan, Manmadha Leelai to name a few.
