Kamal Haasan goes the extra mile for Papanasam
When it comes to perfecting your role to death, Kamal Haasan is one of the first actors who will come to every moviegoer’s mind. He has mastered several dialects of Tamil earlier in his films with utmost perfection – Kovai Tamil in Balu Mahendra’s Sathi Leelavathi, Palakkad Tamil and Madras Tamil in Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s Michael Madana Kama Rajan and Sri Lankan Tamil in K.S. Ravikumar’s Tenali to name a few. Now, the latest buzz is that he is learning Tirunelveli Tamil for his upcoming film Papanasam, the official remake of Malayalam film Drishyam.
“Kamal will be speaking in the Tirunelveli accent in some portions of the film. He hasn’t used the slang before in his films. Therefore, he’s training in it to get a hang of it from writer Suga,” says writer Jeyamohan, the dialogue-writer of the film to IANS. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Papanasam also marks the comeback of Kamal Haasan and Gauthami on screen after nearly two decades.
