Kamal Haasan launches Makkal Needhi Maiam political party; “I’m not your Thalaivar”
Kamal Haasan announced his political party as Makkal Needhi Maiam (Centre for People’s Justice)along with the party flag yesterday at Madurai’s Othakadai Ground amidst a massive gathering. The party flag constitutes six right hands with a star in the centre.
“A prosperous Tamil Nadu is my vision. Let’s us to unite to build a progressive Tamil Nadu. I’m not your Thalaivar. I’m a cadre, like one among you,” said Haasan.
In a rare gesture, Kamal Haasan also took on a flurry of questions from the audiences and answered them patiently. He also promised a few to send answers as postal replies if they had provided their addresses.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was present at the occasion, heaped praises on Kamal Haasan and asked people to vote for him. “I’ve been a great fan of Kamal as a film personality. But I stand here today because he is a real-life hero. He is not only honest, but he also has a great vision. I admire his courage to speak up and fight against injustice and communal forces in the country. The people were stuck between two parties DMK and AIADMK, both corrupt parties. But now I congratulate them as they have an honest alternative when they go to vote,” said Kejriwal.
