Kamal Haasan donates Rs. 16 crores to PTP?

There were reports from a section of the media yesterday that Kamal Haasan donated a whopping sum of Rs. 16 crores to the Petralthaan Pillaya Trust which is an initiative to reach out to and support HIV positive children. Some even claimed that the amount was the remuneration paid to Kamal by textile leader Pothys for his first ever television commercial for the brand.

However, Rajeev Nambiar, who co-founded the trust along with Kamal Haasan, quashed the reports as rumors and requested everyone to stop spreading it. “Mr. Kamal Haasan is a trustee of the Petrathan Pillaiya Trust (PTP Trust). The Trust has always enjoyed his guidance & advice. Some of you have read tweets regarding a donation by Mr.Kamal Haasan to the Petralthan Pillaiya Trust ( PTP Trust). This is false.
