Kamal Haasan dismisses plagiarism accusations

When the first look poster of Uttama Villain featuring Kamal Haasan as a Theyyam artist was unveiled, speculations were rife that it was plagiarised from a photograph clicked by a Frenchman. At the recent press meet of Uttama Villain in Hyderabad, when someone quizzed about the same, Kamal Haasan responded promptly this time. “Theyyam is a 1000-year-old Indian art form; i don’t need to copy it from a French photographer. If a French photographer comes to India and photographs a temple built by Krishnadevaraya, will it become his? And can you then say that we copied it from them?,asked Kamal Haasan.

Uttama Villain is all set for release on April 10th worldwide. “It is a family drama, but at the same time it also has got a bit of the magical folklore element of a Vittalacharya film,” added Kamal about the film.
