Kamal Haasan clarifies on Marudhanayagam and Vaama Maargam
There have been constant speculations in the media about Kamal Haasan’s next. While Kamal himself revealed in a recent interview that a London-based producer has shown interest in Marudhanayagam, a section of media theorized that his another dream project Vaama Maargam has been modified as Marudhanayagam and suggested possibiliites of a vice-versa scenario too. Now, Kamal Haasan has cleared the air and confirmed that both Marudhanayagam and Vaama Maargam are two different projects.
“Both are different story-lines. I can’t reveal it. You can read about Marudhanayagam in books. PC Sreeram once asked me, ‘Will people be convinced about the title Marudhanayagam?’ He was skeptical about the title’s ability to evoke curiosity in the audience. ‘Gandhi is a well-known name and so is Nehru. Marudhanayagam?’, PC asked. But, I told PC that the title will become a household name by the time we finish shooting. Now, we haven’t even completed shooting. Marudhanayagam has already become a household name. My responsibility is to bring the film to the audience soon. I can’t divulge any details about the investor who has shown interest in the film,” he said.
“Vaama Maargam is my another story. My most favorite story. It will be of international standard. They are telling, ‘Vaama Maargam Tamil title illanu solvaangale’. Now, it’s for Tamils to trancend barriers and travel across the world. When I make films about Shakespeare or Robert Clive, I can’t find any Tamil meanings for Shakespeare or Clive. I hope people will understand soon,” he said.
