In Tamil Nadu, while a few sources pen the opening weekend gross at an earth shattering 47 crores, a few others claim that the opening gross is in the 37 – 40 crores range. The film is tax free in the state and has set a grand new opening mark undoubtedly.
In Kerala, Kabali has reportedly grossed 10.4 crores in the opening weekend, thereby becoming the fastest to breach the 10 crores mark, which is considered a big benchmark for other language films in the state.
In Karnataka, the opening weekend net is said to be 15 crores, working out to a gross of 20 crores.
In the overseas space, Kabali has reportedly set a new opening weekend benchmark among Indian films as a whole, with a total estimated gross of 13 mil $ (87 crores).
Such humongous numbers have been made possible thanks mainly to the massive superstardom of Rajini and also the pre-release buzz and extensive marketing, branding.
