Director K. Viswanath’s classic Telugu film Sankarabharanam is getting digitalzed and the DI-restored version with color correction will release soon in Tamil by Ratnam of T.N. Arts. Released 36 years back, Sankarabharanam is considered K.Viswanath’s best work and one of the best films to come out of Indian cinema. Sankarabharanam is well-known for its musical masterpiece of KV Mahadevan. In fact, the film propelled the classical music scene in Indian cinema. Now, for its Tamil release, veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who won a National Award for the film’s title song, recorded all the songs in Tamil along with Vani Jayaram and S. Janaki in Chennai. Sources say SPB has gone very emotional while recording for the Tamil version and didn’t even charge a penny for his work. A grand audio launch is planned soon in Sathyam Cinemas where SPB is likely to perform live.
