New wave in Tamil cinema elates K. Balachander

One of the much-awaited events of this year, the eight edition of Vijay Awards, is all set to enthrall us on July 5th. Vijay Awards has been the go-to awards show for the audiences in Kollywood thanks to the high-profile celebrities they manage to rope in year after year. It was Shah Rukh Khan who made a rousing speech in the last year’s edition after winning the coveted Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award.

Speaking about the popularity of Vijay Awards, veteran filmmaker K. Balachander said, “This is a big event that happens every year and I, like everybody else, look forward to it. The ‘Golden Lady’ has become a much sought-after trophy for everyone in the Tamil film industry.” He also lauded the sudden surge of young filmmakers with path-breaking stories. An elated KB said, “The creativity of all these directors gives me immense joy. You are all like a tsunami – a tsunami that should never stop hitting.”

It has been discussed in hushed whispers in the tinsel-town that the much anticipated teaser of Vikram’s Ai is likely to be unveiled during the event.
