Jigarthanda postponed to make space for VIP, clarifies producer Kathiresan

Producer Kathireasan of Aadukalam fame has clarified that Jigarthanda has been postponed to make space for Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattadhari in the box-office. VIP has garnered 13 crores in its opening weekend and the trade foresees a blockbuster in the making. In order to not spoil the momentum of the film, apparently, Jigarthanda had to fall bait. “Distributors and theater owners are of the opinion that VIP is running successfully and after a long time, they have a film which is making good business at the box-office. They suggested to postpone the release of Jigarthanda for a week to get more screens since they feel it has come out really well,” says Kathiresan.

Now, the film is slated to release on August 1st and will clash with Parthiepan’s Kadhai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam and CV Kumar’s crime-drama Sarabham.
