Jaya TV has acquired the satellite rights of Vijay’s Kaththi directed by AR Murugadoss. There is a myth largely prevalent in Tamil Nadu that if Jaya TV buys satellite rights for a film, the film will get a smooth, noiseless release despite any opposition since the channel is believed to be owned by AIADMK Supremo, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha. Ever since the film’s launch, Kaththi has been mired in controversies and the makers, Lyca Productions had to clear the air in a press meet three days back to ensure a hassle-free audio launch yesterday.
Meanwhile, Vaaniyarasu, who spearheads 100 plus Tamil groups who are against the film, issued a warning yesterday that they will march towards the audio launch venue to abrupt the proceedings. But, the tight security arrangements at the event ensured the event went trouble-free. Protesters were arrested even before the event started and evacuated from the venue. AR Murugadoss and Vijay confirmed that the film will release for Diwali.
