James Vasanthan to wield the megaphone for ‘Vaanavil Vaazhkai’

After making a successful composing debut in Sasikumar’s Subramaniapuram, the TV anchor turned music composer has decided dabble in direction. Yes, you heard us right. James Vasanthan is all set to wield the megaphone for his debut feature film titled ‘Vaanavil Vaazhkai’, a campus musical.

Confirming the news to a daily, “In our industry, we usually have a set of beautiful songs in a film and call it a musical. But in the West, a musical is a production in which the lead actors sing and act all by themselves. I’m directing a film which is a pure musical,” explains James. The shooting for the film is already underway and features a herd of newcomers – mostly college students who just passed out. He will compose music for the film as well. “There will be 19 songs in all, and they will be encompassing all genres like hip-hop and rock,” reveals James.
