Director Vetrimaaran has said that he expected Visaaranai to win national awards. “But we never made the film solely to win awards. We narrate a story that we like to tell. We have to give our fullest to the film, the producer should recover his investment. That’s all. I don’t make films to win awards. I consider awards as a morale booster,” Vetrimaaran said.
Quiz him about the status of his long-pending two-part gangster drama Vada Chennai, Vetrimaaran opts to remain mum. “I’m more anxious than anyone else. I feel scared when I hear the word Vada Chennai. We keep talking about the film, but it keeps getting postponed for various reasons. It’s better I don’t talk about the film right now,” he said.
