Iru Mugan Songs Review
Review Overview
Halena
Oh Maya
Kannai Vittu
Iru Mugan Settai
Face Off (Theme)
A stylish and sensible OST!
It is clearly evident here that Harris Jayaraj has decided to break the shackles and come up with a classy, international soundtrack. At times, it does sound like a little bit of an overdose, but you are surely going to fall for something here. Safe to say that Harris has got his mojo back, and is now out hunting for more.
Cast: Vikram, Nayanthara, Nithya Menen
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Lyrics: Madan Karky, Thamarai
Diirector: Anand Shankar
Label: Sony Music
Halena: Singers – Christopher Stanley, Abhay Jodhpurkar and Ujjayinee Roy
Peach of a song to start off things for Iru Mugan. Right from the ringtone-styled beginning, Harris pins his music and his singers at gunpoint, and extracts quality. The whole song has an international feel to it, and you are sure to enjoy the lazy wobbles thoroughly. Somehow, this works big time. Our PICK!
Oh Maya: Singers – NC Karunya and Ramya NSK
Typical at places, trippy at the others. A simple, feel-good track which just might be the slow poison number from the album. Karunya’s unique vocals and Thamarai’s lyrics blend decently, churning out a passable song overall.
Kannai Vittu: Singers – Tippu, Pravin Saivi and Srimathumitha
Prime vocalist Tippu and Pravin Saivi totally rule their department in this easily connecting melody. A deadly mix of techy background sounds and Carnatic crooning. The next PICK.
Iru Mugan Settai: Singers – Kavithai Gundar Emcee Jesz, Steeve Vatz and Maalavika
Too much of something is never good. Harris’ love for rap songs extends into Iru Mugan with this one, but the track is a sure bummer. Bank on the visuals to make this click.
Face Off (Theme): Singer – Maria Roe Vincent
We heard this in the teaser and liked it. The longer version with its haunting start and whacky bass is worth your ears. If they use it properly in the movie, a treat is confirmed.
