Paaraa: Singers – Anirudh, Shrutika Samudhrala 👍
A strong impression with the opening track of the album, which has a grand feel to it. Anirudh ensures that the song’s grandeur is communicated superbly with the song, and also stitches in a melodious portion in the middle which is the highlight of the track. A superb start to the album.
Calendar Song: Singers – Suvi, Aishwarya Suresh
Anirudh tries to pull out a stylish and cool-sounding track, but it only clicks in parts and we have to wait and see if it gets better with repeated listens. The song has scope to find itself some really good visuals, so we will have to wait and see if it rings on further.
Neelorpam: Singers – Abby V, Shrutika Samudhrala 👍
A blissful melody that is planned out wonderfully with a beautiful setup, and takes itself through nicely. Anirudh sets up a boy-band like orchestration here, and the song also has the addition of wonderful trumpets in its interludes. Another pick of the album.
Zaga Zaga: Singer – Anirudh
Not quite sure how this track is going to sit into the proceedings of the film, and it is a chant-like composition that has a good hook but feels like it isn’t enough.
Come Back Indian: Singer – Anirudh 👍
When this song was used in the intro teaser, there were a lot of middling things said about it, but the full version totally rocks the show and turns out to be an exciting number. Anirudh has sung this one really well, and it is Arivu’s lyrics that stand out and make this a wholesome song. Goes onto become the pick of the album and will climb the charts real soon.
Kadharalz: Singer – Anirudh 👍
A very innovative and trippy track from Anirudh, who brings something totally alien to the world of ‘Indian’ and makes this groovy and catchy at the same time. It may first sound like it is a crazy stupid thing to do, but Anirudh has put his foot down and it works wonders. One song that you will come across a lot over the next few days.
Indian 2 may not rank amidst the best of Anirudh, and surely cannot be compared to part 1’s music by AR Rahman. But we cannot go down without saying that this is an album that has a solid shape of variety and music that is in line with today’s times.
