I’m a big fan of Dhanush’s acting since Kadhal Kondein: R. Balki

R. Balki, director of Dhanush’s upcoming Hindi film Shamitabh, has been a big fan of Dhanush’s acting since Kadhal Kondein, a film that propelled his career to a new high. Balki says he never had anyone in mind for the role which Dhanush eventually went on to play when he narrated the script to Amitabh Bachchan on his 69th birthday function. When quizzed about Dhanush’s deaf-and-mute character in the film, Balki says “Don’t believe any reports until I talk about my film. All I can say, for now, is that I decided to cast Dhanush because I have been a big fan of his acting since Kadhal Kondein.“

“He is an original actor and he doesn’t remind me of any other actor. When you see the film, you will know why I chose him for the character,” adds Balki. He also heaped praise on Dhanush’s co-star Akshara Haasan who debuts as an actress in Shamitabh. “She is the coolest girl I have ever met. She acts as if she has completed 150 films. This film is a three-hero subject, and Akshara Haasan is one of the heroes in the film,” says Balki. Shamitabh is slated to hit screens on February 6th, 2015.
