Shruti Haasan who has grabbed the attention of netizens with the viral two-and-a-half-minute video titled ‘Be The Bitch’ says she is an equalist on all fronts.
The video is another strong film from the #UnBlushed series that created ‘The Printing Machine’ with Kalki Koechlin, ‘Let’s Dance’ with Aditi Rao Hydari, ‘Find Your Beautiful’ with Radhika Apte and ‘Ab Samjhauta Nahin’ with Amitabh Bachchan among others. #UnBlushed is a revolutionary series by Blush, and is an unapologetic statement by women for women. It features various inspiring icons and role models at their forthcoming best, talk about issues that irk them and in unconventional forms of conversation.
Written and narrated by Shruti Haasan, the video has already crossed 5.8 lakh views (noted at 9:15 AM, October 16th) and received endless endorsements from celebrities across industries.
“I’ve never believed in following norms and going by standard definitions. Also, I’m an equalist on all fronts and I believe there needs to be an upgrade in what the so called “stigma laden terms” actually mean. The intention historically attached to these words has been defined by a power play between the one using the term and the one it’s used for – almost seeming abusive. Evolution, education and opportunity have changed what words mean and today the word bitch, at least to me, stands for an independent and strong woman’s ability of being herself . So when this idea of the #Unblushed video came about, I knew I had an interesting platform to showcase “Be The Bitch” – the gutsy yet vulnerable woman who isn’t afraid to be true to herself, no matter what. I wrote and fleshed it out based on my vision and everyone loved it. I’m glad that it’s turned out well,” said Shruti Haasan.
