Ilaiyaraja reveals his musical inspirations at Google Talks

During a fireside chat in Google’s USA office, Isaignani Ilaiyaraja, who was recently honored by the Indian government with the Padma Vibushan award, revealed his musical inspirations.

“I can quote numerous people as my musical inspirations. First comes my elder brother Paavalar Varadharajan. He was someone who could write lyrics and compose music for his songs too. That’s where my musical journey started. Many composers inspired me including Naushad Ji, Sriramachandra, S.D.Burman, Roshan, Madan Mohan etc. Anyone who composes good music is my inspiration,” said Ilaiyaraja.
