“I was spellbound by the concept of Velaikkaran,” says DOP Ramji
DOP Ramji, best known for his work in films such as Mayakkam Enna, Thani Oruvan to name a few, talks about his working experience with director Mohan Raja and Sivakarthikeyan in Velaikkaran, which is slated to hit screens on December 22nd.
Praising filmmaker Mohan Raja’s brilliant sense of filmmaking, he says, “Mohan Raja told me one line story of Velaikkaran during Chennai floods. I was spellbound by the concept and assured that it is going to be a film with huge impact. I would say that Velaikkaran will be an unusual cinema and will turn the light on how the generation of tomorrow’s world should be. I was so surprised by the discipline and hard work of not just Mohan Raja, but his assistants as well. I would leave the shooting spot by evening and when I return back in the morning, I would see assistants walking like Zombies. The reason is that Mohan Raja and his assistants stay up at spot discussing scenes till early morning 4 a.m. and come back again by 8 a.m. for the shoot.”
Getting to speak about Sivakarthikeyan, Ramji says, “All that I can say is that Siva has never done such a movie before. We were so much concerned about his looks in this film. He goes through 3 different transitions in the movie and we had to accordingly design his looks and visuals as well.”
