“I wanted Appa’s 75th birthday to be memorable,” says Suriya

The exhibition of veteran actor Sivakumar’s extensive repertoire of paintings at Lalit Kala Academy has been extended for public viewing by two days thanks to the overwhelming response from all quarters. Suriya and Karthi, who organized the exhibition, to celebrate the 75th birthday of Sivakumar, are elated with the response.

A coffee table book comprising of Sivakumar’s paintings was released yesterday in the presence of Suriya and Karthi in Lalit Kala Academy. Speaking at the launch Suriya said, “Appa never likes his birthdays to be celebrated. When we wanted to celebrate last year, he suddenly planned a trip to Pazhani Murugan Temple. But, this year is his 75th birthday and we wanted to make it memorable for all of us. That’s the reason we had planned to organize the exhibition. The reception from everyone is overwhelming. After Ramayanam and Mahabharata, Appa is now preparing for a recital of Thirukkural. To celebrate Appa’s oratory skills, an oral competition will be conducted every year and prizes will be given for best orators.”
