Director Atlee, Amy Jackson and Baby Nainika accompanied by her mother Meena were present for the brief press meet of Theri, which happened yesterday ahead of the release. Atlee revealed a lot of interesting things about the film, which is all set for release tomorrow worldwide with special premieres in several overseas territories scheduled tonight.

What differentiates Theri from other police stories is the solid, genuine emotional factor. What if our own brother or father is a police officer. That’s what I’ve tried to showcase in the film. Vijay fights for both social and personal issues in the film.
Every crime involves emotions. Even a thief experiences emotions in life. I wanted to get into the bottom of it. It’s all about good parenting and upbringing. That’s Theri.
Film has a usual storyline. But the characters are written differently. Vijay Kumar IPS is a strong, solid, family-friendly police officer. Vijay Sir watched the film and said ‘It’s super’
As a child artist, Nainika performed on par with Vijay sir. We wanted to give her more visibility and she has more portions in the film too. That’s why she dominated in the promo videos and posters.
Vijay Anna and I never discussed about part 2. I have an idea. But it will be based on audiences’ response to Theri. Talks are on with everyone for my next. But I’ve not decided about it yet. I need a break after Theri release.
Mani Ratnam sir is definitely an inspiration. But Theri is NOT based on any story. Chatriyan comparisons are based on the individual’s perspective. Inspiration is quite common for every human being. Stealing scripts is a bad thing. It’s like killing a foetus in the womb. Inspiration is different from stealing. We get inspired for everything

I have been waiting to work with Vijay since I came to this country. Now I feel very blessed. Sherif has choreographed the song with me and Vijay really well. He was very helpful on the sets.
