The grand trailer launch of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming superhero thriller Hero took place this morning at Sathyam cinemas, with key members of the team making their presence. Contrary to the usual events that take place in Kollywood these days, the event was packed with many interesting props such as LED displays, projections, air curtain screens and more such exciting additions. The event started off with the song Overa Feel Pannuren being screened, which was a trademark dance number shot across Chennai city.
Sivakarthikeyan initially went up on stage to greet his fans and award the winners of the Play Hero contest that was a rage amongst the fans recently. A making video which showcased the film’s process was also screened, showing us a glimpse of how the action sequences were shot under low light scenarios.
Writer trio Bakkiyaraj – Sabarimuthu – Pon Parthiban went up on stage to speak about the work that went into the writing process of a superhero film, speaking in length about how the trio and Mithran had together worked on the script in places like Ooty and Shimla.
Editor Antony L Ruben who is a lucky charm for Sivakarthikeyan, confirmed the fact that Hero is indeed a film that would be devoid of drinking or smoking scenes. “Every person who has worked on this film can be proud of it for the next decade,” said the editor.
Comedian Robo Shankar who is expected to repeat his magic just like Irumbu Thirai in Hero as well, spoke about the film’s producer KJ Rajesh being very prompt with his payments unlike most other producers. Shankar said that he has already received his payment for the film which he is starting in January. Heroine Kalyani Priyadarshan, who makes her Tamil debut with this biggie, said that the film has four heroes in the form of Mithran, Sivakarthikeyan, Yuvan Shankar Raja and DOP George Williams.
The trailer of Hero was then launched to a terrific response from the fans in the hall. The trailer showcased Sivakarthikeyan in a totally new makeover, getting rid of his usual comic mannerisms and going into a speedy action thriller.
Director PS Mithran then came on stage to speak about how both he and Sivakarthikeyan wanted to do a film like a film (Gentleman). He recalled the reactions of the censor board who immediately called it a very good film after watching it. “Ellarume padikarom, aana ethane per kathukarom – this is the theme of Hero. I was on cloud nine when Yuvan sir told me that he had full satisfaction while doing this film,” he said.
Producer KJ Rajesh spoke about how Hero will turn out to be a landmark film for Sivakarthikeyan just like how Viswasam was for Thala Ajith. In a punchy speech, he said he is fond of Mithran’s work, placing him next to Shankar.
Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja then came in and spoke about the 18-minute-long theme track in the film, which is the longest that he has composed in his career.
The final speaker as expected, was Sivakarthikeyan, who differentiated Hero from his other films saying that a strong message has been put in it, along with a lot of thrill and action. “Instead of having fights where lots of people are beaten up, Hero will have many small-small fight scenes. Credit goes to Dhilip for his innovative approach,” he said. Sivakarthikeyan also expressed his happiness in working with Arjun and Yuvan in the same project, as he is a big fan of them since his early days.
“Believing in yourself is what Hero is all about. I’m sure that my fans will be proud of this Sivakarthikeyan film,” concluded the actor.
Hero is all set for a big worldwide release on the 20th of December!
