Gautham Menon hits back at the Naragasooran squabble, provides status updates for ENPT and Dhruva Natchathiram
With lots of negativity being hurled at director-producer Gautham Menon from the unit of budding filmmaker Karthick Naren’s Naragasooran unit and beyond, it was high time for the veteran to come up with a clarification and close out the issue. The director put out a long note on his Twitter page late into the night yesterday, addressing points related to all his productions and directional ventures at the moment. While you can read the whole statement on his Twitter page, here are the status updates of the four films that he has been held responsible for lately.
Naragasooran – Being the center of all the attraction, Gautham provides a diplomatic answer stating that he has not interfered with the making of the film and has gone leaps and bounds to get things done even though Karthick had demanded assets higher than his level. Gautham clarifies that the funding for Naragasooran cannot be re-diverted to a mammoth project like Dhruva Natchatiram, which according to him, is 7 times the size of the former. Gautham has given his word to settle the pending payments of Arvind Swami, after which the actor will dub for his role in the film. He also stated that the issues Naragasooran is facing, is what every other producer in Kollywood faces these days, and that the film will be able to see a release very soon.
Dhruva Natchathiram – According to Gautham, 70 days of shoot have been completed for Dhruva Natchathiram. The film has some excessive shoot schedules and lots of action which is the reason why it could not be completed on the said time. In hindsight, Gautham is likely to continue shooting for Dhruva Natchatiram once Vikram completes his work for Saamy-2 which is racing towards an Eid showdown.
Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta – Gautham says that only 45 days of shoot have been completed for ENPT, and the issue that the film is facing are the dates that are being shared between other films. Dhanush, who is busy with a handful of other films at this stage is probably the deciding factor on when this film will resume.
Nenjam Marapathillai – Contrary to the tweets and the re-tweets by the people associated with Selvaraghavan, Gautham says that he was a mediator who listened to Selvaraghavan’s idea and pitched it to the producer, Madan of Escape Artists. Though Madan wanted Gautham’s name on the posters, the director says that he is out of the circle now and is looking forward to the release of the film soon. However, with Selvaraghavan’s statement calling the release of a film ‘a mystery’ in one of his recent interviews, this part of the story remains still with lots of clauses.
