Gautham Menon approached Ajith for Kaakha Kaakha first

Gautham Menon has disclosed that he approached Ajith first to do the lead role in Kaakha Kaakha. Later, he approached Vikram before the role finally went to Suriya. Gautham was supposed to do a film with Ajith before the latter started Asal with Saran and even during Mankatha, Gautham Menon discussed a project with Ajith, but it didn’t materialize too. “I don’t have any reason as to why it didn’t happen, it just didn’t. Now, when the Suriya project was shelved and I was wondering what’s next, Ajith’s film came my way,” says Gautham to an English daily.

Gautham has also confimed that he has not added any unwanted commercial elements to ramp up Ajith’s mass image in the film. “Even if I try to infuse extra commercial elements just for him, he usually says no to it. And also, I don’t know how to commercialise anything, I have never done that. There is absolutely no pressure on me from any side,” he added. Thala 55 is a character-driven film and the entire story revolves around Ajith’s character ‘Sathyadev’. Gautham is planning to come up with sequels to Thala 55 if the film is received well.
