Game Changer Movie Review

Ram Charan and SJ Suryah take on each other in this baseline political drama! Down goes our Game Changer Movie Review.

Shankar’s Game Changer comes off as another episode in the series from Shankar’s long series of anti corruption stories, this time we have an IAS officer taking on a corrupted politician.

The story of the film sets up on how an IAS officer rises up the ranks and brings down an entire political party. The film stands up well in the first half, with its anti-corruption episodes working out well and only the romantic scenes sticking out like a sore thumb. The film has a very easy going screenplay, and does not go all out trying to impress the audiences. The screenplay is filled with very unrealistic situations and it gets even more higher in the second half where the face-off between Ramcharan and SJ Suryah turns out to be a very thin one. Except for the flashback sequence in the second half, there’s not much to enjoy in the film on the whole.

Ram Charan brings in a decent performance in the film, and is impressive especially in the second half flashback sequence. Anjali is the other good addition as she has a strong role in the film and delivers too. SJ Suryah is loud and erratic, for probably for the first time in a long time, we might be getting over him and his antics.

The film is technically good with Tirru’s cinematography and Thaman’s music working out wondrously for the film and elevating many scenes.

On the whole, Game Changer is a watchable film that might work as a time-pass entertainer for some, but if you are looking for Shankar’s proven greatness or an intelligent screenplay, you might be at bay.

Verdict: A middling political entertainer that could’ve been better!
