Forbes 2015 Celebrity 100 List: Vijay and Ajith displaced

The Forbes 2015 Celebrity 100 List is out and it has been the talking point on social media ever since. Vijay and Ajith, top earners in Tamil film industry, have been dethroned from the list. “Rankings are based on two parameters: Estimates of entertainment-related earnings of celebrities and estimates of their fame. The period under consideration for both was October 1, 2014, to September 30, 2015,” says Forbes. And fame is calculated by tracking the visibility of celebrities on media, television and social media. Considering the commanding reach Vijay and Ajith enjoy on social media, their exclusion from the list has received a lot of flak from Tamil film enthusiasts on social media.

AR Rahman is placed at 14th rank in the list. Dhanush occupies the 37th position and Kamal Haasan is at 46th rank in the list. Santhanam, Rajinikanth, Suriya, Arya and Prabhudeva are placed at 52nd, 69th, 71st, 80th and 88th ranks. Kajal Aggarwal and Shruti Haasan have occupied 58th and 61st positions.
