After facing stiff opposition from various political parties and leaders such as Thirumavalavan, Vaiko and Velmurugan, Superstar Rajinikanth has dropped his Sri Lanka visit. According to a statement released by Raju Mahalingam, Creative Head of Lyca Productions, Rajinikanth was supposed to attend a two-day-long event in Jaffna, Sri Lanka to present 150 homes to displaced Tamils on April 9th and 10th.
“I have canceled my Sri Lanka visit due to requests from several friends. Though I don’t agree their reasons wholeheartedly, I respect their affection towards me. I’ve always wanted to visit Sri Lanka and the Tamils living there, but I feel really unfortunate to have missed this trip. I hope people put aside their political ideologies next time when I get an opportunity to visit the island nation, which witnessed a holy war,” said Rajinikanth in a statement.
