Kamal Haasan expressed his strong condemnation against the recent decision of censor board to black-list expletives from usage in cinema. Kamal Haasan is long-known for propagating freedom of speech in cinema. “They are supposed to be a certification board. Now, one gentleman, who is also known to me, Mr. Nihalani (censor board chief) – he comes and reverts his position back to being a censor board. They’re giving a list of dialogues that should not take place. You cannot take like this in the times of web world,” said Kamal Haasan.
“You cannot stop it. I don’t think these people have seen Netflix or any of those things. The cinema has totally changed. It’s unfair to curb the rights of a writer. You’re stopping Indian cinema from becoming international. And, expletives are the rights of a writer in cinema,” he added.
