Entertainment Tax reduced to 8%; three ticket slabs defined for theaters
The Tamil Nadu state government and the film fraternity has arrived at a final solution regarding the double taxation issue. The LBET (Local Body Entertainment Tax) has been reduced from 10% to 8% and three different ticket rates have been categorized for various types of theatres.
Multiplex: Rs 150+ Rs 42 (28% GST ) + Rs 12 (8% ET) = Rs. 204 (Excluding Internet Booking Fee)
Non-Multiplex AC theatres: Rs 100 + Rs. 18 (18% GST) + Rs. 8 (8% ET) = Rs. 126 (Excluding Internet Booking Fee)
Non-AC theatres: Rs 80 + Rs 14.40 (18% GST) + Rs 6.40 (8% of ET) = Rs 100.80 (Excluding Internet Booking Fee)
Vishal has also come down hard at theater owners, who charge inflated price for tickets for the films of top stars. Theater owners association is expected to meet today to declare their stand on Vishal’s list of requests.
