The film fraternity members have come forward to express their support for Mersal, spearheaded by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan himself. Haasan took to his Twitter page and said Mersal should not be re-censored.
Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it . Counter criticism with logical response. Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks.

BJP Politicians in Tamil Nadu such as Tamilisai Soundararajan, H. Raja and Pon. Radhakrishnan have been demanding to trim scenes regarding GST and ‘Digital India’ in the film. Sources say Thenandal Films has not decided to cut the scenes yet, but due to Murali Ramasamy’s proximity to Pon. Radhakrishnan, the makers may be forced to trim the scenes.
Meanwhile, regional censor board chief Mathialagan has said that Mersal will have to re-censored if certain scenes need to be removed from the film. Vijay fans are hoping that the makers don’t budge.
