Legal trouble for Dhanush’s VIP

Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattathari is running successfully in the box-office and already this year’s biggest blockbuster. Now, a dialogue which Dhanush recites in the film seems to have irked the alumnus of Ramakrishna Mission school and they have a filed defamation suit against the actor. They have asked for a stay on the film unless the dialogue is edited out. There is a scene in the film where Dhanush blames his father (Samuthirakani) for enrolling him in Ramakrishna Vidyalaya but his brother in a Christian institution.

“Ramakrishna Mission has been indulging in the great service of education poor and underprivileged children across the country. The mission has 150 schools at various locations of India including the one in Arunachal Pradesh bordering China. The dialogue uttered by Dhanush in the film not only demeans the contributions of the institution to the society but also harmful since it would create a bad name for the institution among the youngsters and the general public. We condemn the film’s director and the producer cum lead actor Dhanush for charging  the institution functions under the name of Sri Ramakrishna, Mother Sharada Devi and Swami Vivekanandna without any basis,” says an official press release from the institution.

“Dhanush’s father-in-law Rajinikanth was a student of Ramakrishna Mission and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had served in the Mission at Rajkot for two years,” say students of the mission.
