Demonte Colony 2 Movie Review

DC2 shines majorly due to the performance of its lead duo! Below goes our Demonte Colony 2 Movie Review.

Director Ajay Gnanamuthu and actor Arulnithi are back together for the sequel of their hit first instalment of Demonte Colony. The film is back for a bigger scale this time, with the story moving out of just the room that the first part took place in.

Ajay evolves the story and gives us a back story of how Arulnithi’s character from the first part still stays alive, and also gives us an introduction to a new character in the form of Debbie (Priya Bhavani Shankar). The film is more of a mystery thriller this time, and not a horror thriller. The first half has a couple of good scenes where the story is set in motion, and the second half is more of spooky scenes that take place within the chinese restaurant.

However, the film which is a good state until the interval takes too many big jumps in the second half where it lets its imagination loose in many ways. The film gives us scenarios which are neither terrifying nor engaging, which makes it hard for us to connect with it.

Arulnithi has done really well in the film (there is a surprise to his role), and Priya Bhavani Shankar has a spectacular role that she carries very well. Both the actors have done their respective parts superbly, making the watch engaging to an extent. It is only the suffering that comes in because of the film’s support cast, which could have been better.

The film is technically decent too, with Harish Kannan’s cinematography’s being the biggest plus point and Sam CS’ music having couple of good tunes.

Ajay Gnanamuthu has tried to do something different within the horror genre, but the fact that he deviated too much out of the horror genre and played with over-imagination turns out to be the big villain of Demonte Colony 2. A decent watch at best.

Verdict: A horror thriller that delivers good chills here and there!
