DD Returns Movie Review

Debutant director Prem Anand brings together a fun and non-stop horror comedy through DD Returns, which is a nicely thought-out entertainer that constantly delivers laughs. The film is a proper comeback for Santhanam, who has picked up an interesting subject for a horror comedy and has great fun with a big cast.

The film starts off as a chaos comedy, where three gangs go behind a bag of money for various reasons, and then introduces us into the main scene – a mansion left behind for years which acts as a massive game house, and presents the players with many challenges that they have to overcome to multiply their money. With the use of its superb support cast, the film moves ahead at the right pace, bringing in a lot of comics at regular intervals to keep it going. The film gets even better in the second half, with so many intriguing portions where there is so much to laugh about, and the creative organization of the film through multiple game levels which are packed with funny one liners.

This is truly a superb comeback for Santhanam, who does so well in his comic timing, which works as a major element for the film. The actor along with a supporting cast create a celebration with their comics, and there is so much to laugh about for the audiences.

The film moves at a rapid pace in the second half, and the hilarious climax is also a big boost. Credit goes to Mottai Rajendran, Fefsi Vijayan, Kingsley and the other members who are a riot in totality.

The film has decent visuals and music, but what is most important is that it complements the film’s intent so well.

DD Returns turns out to be a complete surprise as a proper horror comedy entertainer after a long time. The film is a great comeback for Santhanam, despite some slow bits in the first half.  DD Returns Movie Review by Siddarth Srinivas
