Damaal Dumeel is based on a real life incident

Dameel Dumeel, a black comedy-thriller laced with social issues in the background is all set to hit the screens this Friday. The film will face a tough competitor in Vadivelu’s comeback film Tenaliraman produced by AGS Entertainment. Dameel Dumeel is directed by Shankar’s former associate Shree and has Vaibhav and Ramya Nambeesan in the lead roles.

Apparently, the director had read in a newspaper about a driver fleeing away with the bank’s money to be deposited in an ATM in Bangalore. That’s how the story took shape and materialized based on the this fact. Damaal Dumeel is a thriller with comedy elements and has societal issues like how cooum river has been misused for illegal activities, the ever-increasing scams in IT companies and passport forgery. “We have tried to portray all these in a light manner and they wouldn’t hamper the momentum of the film and its genre,” says the director.
