Court issues interim ban on ‘Saivam’ release

A civil court in Chennai has issued an interim ban to release AL Vijay directorial Saivam. The team is planning and has already started making arrangements to release the film in May. But, Ramadoss of SG Films has registered a case in the court against AL Vijay. Upon hearing the petitioner, the court has issued an interim ban till April 17 to release the film. As per Ramadoss, “AL Vijay took 1.5 crores as advance from SG Films on a promise that he will direct a film for our banner. But, Vijay has used our funds to bankroll his low-budget dream project Saivam under his father AL Azhagappan’s name.”

It seems Vijay had earlier promised that he’ll repay the advance amount before the audio release of Saivam. It is a well-known fact that Saivam audio launch has already been over and the team is in USA for the final sound mixing. So Ramadoss has sought the court to ban the release of the film until the entire amount is settled. As the film is slated for a release in May, AL Vijay and team are looking to peacefully settle the issue with SG Films, say sources.
