Review Overview
The Boys Are Back
Soppana Sundari
Nee Kidaithai
Idhu Kadhaiya
House Party
Soppana Sundari Remix
Vibrant, Youthful Soundtrack.
Chennai 28 2, though a step below the first outing, is a fun soundtrack from Yuvan Shankar Raja, proving that he's still got it in him to provide music that makes your foot tap. The album has three solid tracks which should help the film gain the required momentum, and aim for a sixer.
Cast: Jai, Shiva, Premji, Vijaya Lakshmi
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Director: Venkat Prabhu
Producer: Amma Creations
Label: DooPaaDoo
The Boys Are Back: Singers – Yuvan, Vasuki Bhaskar, Bhavatharini, Madurai Souljour
Techy and trippy booster track which has the vocals of Yuvan and his gang. The highness of the song lies in its exciting turnarounds and musical surprises. Our PICK.
Soppana Sundari: Singers – Yuvan, Venkat Prabhu, Karthik Raaja and Premgi Amaren
Instantly catchy light kuthu track that has meaningless but funny lyrics. The best part of the song comes after the first interlude, where Yuvan pulls in a great twist from nowhere. Another PICK.
Nee Kidaithai: Singers – Haricharan, Chinmayi
After a decent start, the song becomes a quintessential Yuvan melody with lyrics that occasionally pop up. Should get better with time.
Idhu Kadhaiya: Singers – Khareshma, Sean Roldan
Here comes the best song of the album, a wonderful throwback to Yuvan’s earlier melodies. Khareshma Ravichandran and Sean Roldan take opposite paths through the apt lyrics, making this a must-listen. Our PICK!
House Party: Singer – Senthil Dass
Perfunctory party track with Yuvan’s trademark synths and beat. Senthil Dass does a satisfactory job, but it doesnt count in.
Soppana Sundari Remix: Mixed by Premgi Amaren
Premgi who is usually good with his remixes disapoints this time, with a song which goes down after a whacky intro. By the mid of it all, you’re reaching for the skip button.
