Censorship is undemocratic: Kamal Haasan
Kamal Haasan has always been the soft target of letter head parties and fringe groups. This time, ahead of his Uttama Villain release, a right wing group and a Muslim organization have sought ban on the film’s release since a song hurts their religious sentiments. As always, Kamal Haasan has voiced against them and also says that censor board should behave like certification board. “The certification board also had responsible people. They enjoyed the film and found no umbrage,” says Kamal Haasan.
“Censorship is undemocratic. Governments which are still not open to democracy do such things. We are not under such a government. Why should a certification board appointed by a government behave like a censor board? Morals change every 50 years. So policing it according to scriptures thousands of years old is futile,” adds Kamal Haasan.
