BJP unit in Tamil Nadu pursues Rajinikanth
We earlier reported here that there were reports on Rajinikanth joining the BJP soon after completing Lingaa. Now, the BJP has started sending feelers to get Rajinikanth on board. Tamilisai Soundararajan, president of the BJP State unit recently met Latha Rajinikanth at her residence and stated that it’s an informal Navaratri visit. Reliable sources say Tamilisai Soundararajan went to Superstar’s home upon invitation from Latha Rajinikanth. Since Rajinikanth was shooting for Lingaa, she could not meet him.
Sources say BJP is trying to capitalize on Jayalalitha’s conviction in disproportionate assets case to gain a foothold in the state. “Both the AIADMK and the DMK are facing corruption charges. We believe there will be a huge leadership vacuum in the next Assembly election,” says Tamilisai Soundararajan.
“Ms. Soundararajan invited Mr. Rajinikanth to release a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently being given the final touches. She told the family that she would visit again to talk about the book when Mr. Rajinikanth returned. They discussed the political situation,” quotes a popular English daily.
