Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta to play Sobhan Babu in Thalaivi
Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta has been roped in to play the role of yesteryear Telugu actor Sobhan Babu in Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi, which chronicles the life of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha.
It was rumored that Sobhan Babu and Jayalalitha were in a relationship. Thalaivi marks Jisshu Sengupta’s debut as an actor in Tamil. Last year, he made his acting debut in Telugu through the NTR biopic, which bombed at the box-office.
Directed by Vijay and produced by Vibri Media, Thalaivi is being planned as a multi-lingual. Kangana has reportedly learned Tamil for the project. The film is co-written by Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad. 2.0 cinematographer Nirav Shah cranks the camera.
