“Bala sir is a storehouse of cinematic knowledge”, says Varu Sarathkumar

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who plays the female lead in Bala’s Thaarai Thappattai, was totally surprised when Bala announced her as one of the assistant directors for the film. Interestingly, Varu’s passionate involvement in scenes which did not even feature her and warmth rapport with technicians impressed Bala and he eventually appointed her as his AD for the film.

“I don’t have any words. I consider this to be a great honour. Going to Thaarai Thappattai shooting is like attending school, and Bala sir is a storehouse of cinematic knowledge. I’m learning a lot of things, even if I’m not shooting. I always prefer to stay back and involve myself in jobs associated with the direction,” says Varalaxmi.
