AR Rahman bagged the 29th Filmfare Award last night for Mani Ratnam’s Kadal, a record for any Indian composer. This win also marks his 14th Filmfare Award for South. Lastly, he won a Filmfare Award (South) for Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya in 2011. He also won one more award that year for the Telugu version of VTV.
He took to his social media page and thanked his mentor Mani Ratnam. “Thank you, Filmfare Awards and Vijay Awards for showing such love to the music of Kadal… Thanks to Mani anna for once again inspiring me to do my best… Ellapugazhum iraivanukke!!,” posted AR Rahman. Winning 29 Filmfare Awards in 22 years is a staggering feat indeed!
