Anurag Kashyap opens up about his role in Nayanthara’s Imaikkaa Nodigal

Hindi filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who is making his onscreen debut as a baddie in Tamil in Nayanthara’s thriller drama Imaikkaa Nodigal has opened up about his role in the movie, which also stars Atharvaa and Raashi Khanna in important roles.

Imaikkaa Nodigal which is being produced by Mr C J Jayakumar of Cameo Films is being directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu of De’Monte Colony fame. The cinematography of the film is by R D Rajasekhar and music by Hiphop Tamizha. Important sequences of the film have already been shot with the lead actors in live locations in Bangalore and Chennai and the shoot will go on in the coming months in Chennai and other locations in India.

“What pulled me towards acting in Imaikkaa Nodigal is the role. RUDRA is not your typical baddie. He doesn’t just smoke, drink, order his men around and indulge in item numbers. He is menacing, scary, smart and cunning. This strange mixture that forms the role is what tempted me to take it up although I was tied up with my own projects back in Mumbai. When the audience watch the movie in theatre, if I’m able to evoke the tiniest of fears in them, as Rudra, I’ll consider my work done,” says Kashyap.

Having shot with the team for a few days, Anurag Kashyap has nice things to say about the team. “It’s great to see youngsters take up the initiative and do interesting films like this. Films that demand a lot of experience and detailing. I’m surprised by Director Ajay’s command over the medium. DOP RD Rajasekhar is a friend of mine and I’ve had the joy of working with him in A R Murugadoss’s Akira before this. His frames are a delight to watch. Additionally, the production has been impeccable. Every need of the artistes, technicians and the film is being taken care to the tee.”

While three schedules of the film are already over, there are a couple more schedules to go as the film will wrap up by the end of April. All eyes are on Imaikkaa Nodigal and Anurag Kashyap tells us that it will be worth the wait.

“I can’t wait to see the movie on screen myself!,” signs off Kashyap.
