Anjaan mints 30 crores in the box-office; beats Jilla, Veeram, Kochadaiiyaan

Suriya’s Anjaan, despite opening to lukewarm reception from netizens, has raked in 30 crores in the worldwide box-office. “This is the first Tamil film to collect more than 30 crores within 3 days,” says an official press release from the makers. If the numbers are true, the film has beaten the likes of Ajith’s Veeram and Vijay’s Jilla. 

Since the opening weekend is largely determined by a film’s star quotient, expectations and pre-release buzz, it will be interesting to see how the film sustains over the next few days in the ticket window. A section of the print media has given good reviews for the film whereas the online media has been churning out negative reviews. Unflustered by both, the film stands tall and the boxoffice numbers are the proof.
