A lot of variety, but suffers ingenuity!
Harris Jayaraj and KV Anand combo has once again managed to keep their reputation intact with some lovely adopted-tunes adapted well. Anegan, though lacks inventiveness, has a variety of songs to entertain a commercial album craver.

- Dangaa Maari Oodhari; Singers – Dhanush, Marana Gana Viji, Naveen Madhav; Lyrics: Rokesh – The song, though hits the right chord, reminds us of the composer’s kuthu hits from his discography often. Dhanush’s vocals sound too good for the song’s atmosphere with right support from Gana Viji and Naveen Madhav. It is foot-tapping, rustic but tediously repetitious on the whole. Rokesh’s earthy, regional lyrics are the song’s highlight, easily!
- Roja Kadale; Singers: Chinmayi, Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan; Lyrics: Vairamuthu – Déjà vu is the word if somone one has to assess the tune but the track is lovely thanks to the gorgeous vocals of Chinmayi and Shankar Mahadevan. Vairamuthu’s lyrics deserve mention
- Aathadi Aathadi; Singers: Abhay Jodhpurkar, Bhavatharani, Dhanush, Tippu; Lyrics: Vairamuthu – A pleasing, solacing melody from Harris Jayaraj but you can’t help humming Innum Konjam Neram from ARR’s Mariyaan because it’s right there and thrums in the background quietly. Abhay, one of the exciting singers in recent times, has nailed it with other singers contributing their parts well
- YOLO – (You Only Live Once); Singers: Eden, Ramya NSK, Richard, Shail Hada, Vickey; Lyrics: C. S. Amudhan – Leisurely beats and nonchalant singing make this track sound cool as much as it intends to be, but it barely excites and ends up a passable track
- Thodu Vaanam; Singers: Hariharan, Shakthishree Gopalan; Lyrics: Vairamuthu – An absolutely brilliant tune and the Harris stamp is visible throughout the song. Hariharan and Shakthishree’s rendition do complete justice to the song’s mood. Our PICK of the album!
- Deivangal Ingae; Singers: Sriram Parthasarathy; Lyrics: Kabilan – A breezy tune but Sriram’s lethargic singing makes it less interesting than it should have been
