Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar to share dais for Ilaiyaraja

To celebrate Maestro Ilaiyaraja’s illustrious achievement of completing 1000 films, director R. Balki, a self-confessed fan of Isaignani, is planning to conduct a grand function in Mumbai. Ilaiyaraja has been a regular collaborator with Balki since his debut and the latter’s love for the doyen is comprehensible. Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Lata Mangeshkar will be the chief guests for the function. Sources say the function, which is tentatively scheduled on January 20th, will also be attended by important members of the Bollywood fraternity.

The album of Raja’s 1000th film Thaarai Thappattai directed by Bala is yet to hit the racks. Bala is also planning to organize a grand audio launch for the film to celebrate Maestro’s feat. Ilaiyaraja has already signed his 1001th film Merku Thodarchi Malai for Vijay Sethupathi’s banner Vijay Sethupathi Productions.
